PURPOSE OF THE AWARD

The Newman Civic Fellowship is a year-long program that recognizes and supports student public problem solvers at Campus Compact member institutions. Fellows are nominated by their president or chancellor based on their potential for public leadership and their work with communities. Throughout the fellowship year, Campus Compact provides students with opportunities to nurture their assets and help them develop strategies for social change—creating a network of connected and engaged student leaders who can support one another in making positive change.

ELIGIBILITY FOR THE AWARD

Student nominees must:

  • Be currently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program at your institution (preference for undergraduate students).
  • Have at least one year of their education remaining at the date of nomination so that they are enrolled as a student for the full duration of their fellowship (Sept. through May of next academic year).
  • Commit to providing a short reflection piece to Campus Compact during their fellowship year.
  • Commit to being present and fully engage in offered fellowship activities.
  • No individual may receive more than one Newman Fellowship whether internal or external from another agency.
