Test Optional Applications

91ÖÆƬ³§ University has adopted a test-optional admission policy for incoming first-year for all our academic programs.  We acknowledge that test scores often do not portray the student’s full ability and potential for academic success. Test Optional applicants will not be required to submit standardized test scores from the ACT or SAT to gain admission or be considered for merit scholarships, but official scores will be requested before registering for registering for 91ÖÆƬ³§ classes.  At that point, scores are collected and used for the purpose of course placement and/or institutional research.

TEST OPTIONAL FAQ

How do I know if I should apply test-optional?
In general, students who are satisfied with their test score and/or believe the score could strengthen their application are highly encouraged to submit official test reports. Students who do not feel their test score is an accurate reflection of their potential and would rather be reviewed primarily from their strong academic record may choose to apply test-optional.

What if my scores are sent from a testing agency or included on my transcripts?
If the student applies test-optional, submitted test scores will be ignored for admissions purposes.

How will 91ÖÆƬ³§ evaluate students who do not submit test scores?
Our holistic review process will include an analysis of factors such as strength of courses, achievement in honors/AP courses, grade trends in subject areas, extracurricular activities, community involvement, and writing ability. Will I be considered for scholarships if I apply test-optional?
All admitted students are automatically considered for merit scholarships, regardless of test score submission. However, it is important to share that all applicants are encouraged to submit test scores with their application documents, even if they choose to apply as test-optional.
